My name is Nigel Soederhuysen.

I’ve been designing games since 2015, and graphics since 2007. I am deeply passionate about design, whether that happens with paper, code, Photoshop, or Excel.

I am currently working on an unannounced project at Behaviour Interactive.

  • Far Cry 6

    Game Design

    Far Cry 6 is a AAA first person shooter with light RPG elements, set in the fictional country Yara. As a member of the Far Cry 6 team I worked on various RPG systems, including gear mods, camp chef recipes, player perks and crafting economy balancing.

    Embark was my entry for the 48th Ludum Dare Compo. It was created in 48 hours, based on the theme “Deeper and Deeper”. Embark is an idle brick breaker game, where the balls dig down instead of breaking up.

    Programming

    #goals can best be described as an idle fashion mobile game featuring mini games and in depth character customization. It was released by PopReach for Android and iPhone in early 2019.

    Simple Soccer

    Simple Soccer was a simple 2 to 12 player top down soccer game. Easy to pick up but hard to master, the game stripped out all the complexity of real life soccer, but maintained an incredibly high skill ceiling.

    PolyGolf

    PolyGolf was a mobile game developed at Secret Team Games. It’s a simple side scrolling infinite golfer. The project was released on Android and iPhone in 2018.

    Digifest 2017 Digital Poster

    This was an interactive poster that was on display during the 2017 George Brown Student Showcase. People could play with the poster using a touch screen, creating an ambient soundscape as they learned about some of the speakers at the upcoming digifest.

    Free Fall Frenzy

    Free Fall Frenzy was developed independently at Secret Team Games for one year before the project was shelved. The game was a unique perspective changing sports game for up to 4 players.

    Impact was my thesis project, created over 3 months while attending George Brown College’s Game Design program. It is a single player top down car combat loot based RPG.

  • Ruckus Arcade

    Game Design, Programming, Project Management

    The Ruckus Arcade table is a retro gaming inspired project that I lead while attending Geroge Brown College’s Game Design program. It featured three 8 player mini games; foosball, air hockey, and slot car racing.

    Trail

    Trail was a unique multiplayer racing game I lead while attending George Brown College’s Game Design program. It was developed in only two weeks, leading up to the 2016 Level Up showcase.

    The Magneatos

    The Magneatos was a single player puzzle game I directed while attending George Brown College’s Game Design program. The game features a mechanic where the player controls two robots that attract or repel each other with magnetic pads.

    We did a Material Design exploration of The Weather Network’s Android app, establishing many of the conventions that are still present in the app today.

    While at Aircraft, I worked on a full design for The Weather Network’s Windows 8 app. The experience needed to be familiar no matter what device you were viewing it on; Desktop, Tablet, or Phone.

    Ivey Scavenger App

    Graphic Design

    The Ivey Tour App was developed to help introduce new students to the Ivey Business School. While exploring the school, students would find points of interest marked with QR codes. Scanning the codes would reveal in-app information about the location, and earn the student points.
